FTP Upload

You are able to upload files directly to our server.   If you have contacted the system administrator and you have been supplied with a user name and password, then you need to set the following configurations in your FTP client to connect to Western's FTP Server.

The connection host name is ftp.westernpub.com and make sure that you have set the port to port 21.  Then supply the appropriate user name and password that has been given to you.  You will be directed into your home directory.  You may create a new directory inside your home folder.  When creating this directory, do not put spaces between words.  If you have to have more than one word for the directory, please use and "_" character.   For example, if you create a directory and your company name is The Billing Group, you can create a directory called billing_group or bgroup.

Also, remember that when you are sending documents (such as MS Word, WordPerfect, PageMaker, etc) those files are to be sent in ascii mode.   Any type of picture format must be sent in binary mode.  This also includes pdf files as well.

NOTE:  For security reasons, any file that is sent that was created as an self-extracting executable (.exe or .bat extension) will automatically be deleted.  If you want to compress or "zip" files and send them, then you need to use the appropriate compression program.
